Marshall reissue Silver Jubilee 2555 Head and Cabinets
Marshall has reissued the Silver Jubilee 2555X 100 Watt head and matching cabinets. Originally released in 1987 to celebrate 25 years of Marshall and 50 years in the music industry for Jim Marshall himself, the silver vinyl models became highly sought after.
The Marshall 2555X 100 Watt Head
The UK-made re-issues stay faithful to the tone of the original versions. The 2555X 100/50 Watt head has 3 x ECC83 (12AX7) preamp valves and 4 x EL34 power valves, and a High/Low switch to move between Pentode 100 Watt and Triode 50 Watt options.

The Rhythm and Lead channels can be operated via the included footswitch, there’s a DI output and series effect loop, and there’s also an Input Gain/Pull Rhythm Clip Control for extra crunch when required. Not forgetting Presence, Bass, Middle and Treble EQ controls.
Also available are the A551AV angled front, and 2551BV flat cabinets with 4 x 12 Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. They both run at 280 watts with Mono/Stereo Switching – 16 or 4 Ohms Mono; 8 Ohms per-side, Stereo. And they also have castor wheels to make it easier to move them around, as you might expect.
The Marshall Amps 2555X Silver Jubilee re-issues are now available, having originally been teases in January 2015. Here’s a demo video:
There are some minor changes to improve the features and reliability, for instance removing the Output Impedance Selector and instead having 5 speaker output jacks, losing the Mains Voltage Selector, and the switches are slightly different as the originals aren’t available anymore. If you’re seriously obsessive, the handle end caps are silver instead of black and the input jack nut is chrome instead of black plastic.
